We are looking for staff with either formal accountancy qualifications or qualified through experience in the following areas:
- Taxation
- Assurance
- Commercial and Agricultural Accounts Preparation
We support employees at this level through In-House continuous professional education and encourage them to progress to professionally recognised qualifications
Opportunities exist for suitably qualified, motivated and high calibre staff to progress to Partner level.
We are justifiably proud of the training we give to both school/college leavers and people who have experience gained from elsewhere.
We regularly recruit trainees and experienced staff with appropriate technical skills into our taxation, accounts and support services departments. These positions give opportunities to utilise and develop skills learnt elsewhere, give the opportunity for some re-training or provide opportunities for college and school leavers to commence a career with us. We have recently completed our first In-house “Accounting Academy” which provided intensive initial training to new recruits, assisting them in learning core skills and our working methods.
Employees are encouraged and supported to develop their technical skills and progress their careers through studying towards recognised professional qualifications such as the Association of Accounting Technicians and Chartered Taxation exams.
We also recruit approximately two graduates a year into our Chartered Accountancy Student Training Programme giving options under both the English and Scottish Institutes. The broad range of experience and internal support we can offer has led to a high success rate of students who apply themselves diligently to this training programme.
Our IT Department employs approximately six people at various levels. The department has a mixture of highly experienced individuals and trainees.
The skills we would look for in this department include a deep interest in working with computers and software systems and an understanding of networks and Microsoft server based systems. We also have dedicated trainers and support staff specialising in the Sage Accounting packages.
This department has a small team of employees either with or training towards recognised Financial Services qualifications.
We deal with Investment and Wealth Management in addition to providing conventional accounting services to about a quarter of our client base.
This involves a flexible approach to assignments varying from transactional based services through to holistic Wealth Management Services where advice is tailored into our in depth knowledge of our clients affairs, their tax planning and family objectives.
Our Administration team provide Secretarial, Reception, Audio Typing and Administrative Support Services to all our technical departments.
Fairly broad training is given in these areas with opportunities to develop higher level skills in areas of particular interest. Employees often use these positions as a stepping stone to apply for promotion within the Department and for additional training to allow them to move into the technical departments.
